The Winery in Biodynamic Cultivation

In 1999, the purchase of the PERRIERES estate in Manduel (South Rhône Valley between Nîmes and Arles) represent the start of a new adventure for the Kreydenweiss family. The region of Nimes, with its climate, soil and terroir, quickly emerge as the ideal place to satisfy their passion for red wine and develop the grape varieties of the Midi, thanks to their experience in Alsace. Particularly interested in the oldest variety, Carignan and also Syrah and Grenache, which are major varieties from the Rhône Valley that have been planted for many years in PERRIERES. Mourvèdre has been planted soon after the purchase of the winery.

This site is fortuitously located in a sacred area that links major religious centres and as a fervent follower of biodynamics, the family immediately took advantage of the exceptional vibrations of the location.

The cellar was therefore constructed on the basis of ancient principles and in reference to the Golden Ration. Harmony was obtained by the type of ecological materials chosen, such as brick and wood.

The Philosophy

Biodynamic principles have been applied to the entire vineyard. The vines are severly pruned to control the yield. After debudding, all extra shoots are removed from the vine trunk to let the sunlight reach the grappes. Manual harvesting with sorting, second sorting before destalking. Each phase is one building block in the qualitative process to maximise the mineral richness of the PERRIERES, to obtain classical, natural and delicate red wine.

The Soil

Rich in iron composed of Rhône gravel, a mixture of silica, lime, flint and sandstone, an ideal soil to produce red wines.

The Vinification

Short maceration of one week with our own yeast in concrete cask. Slow pneumatic press. Natural vinification, some sulfite before the bottling. Each wine is aging in 50% barrics and 50% foudre (oak cask) for about 1 year.
